Drawing & Talking

What is Drawing and Talking?

Drawing and Talking is a gentle, creative therapy for children, young people, adults and older adults. It provides a safe space to explore feelings and experiences that are difficult to put into words. Typically delivered over a 12-week cycle of 30-minute one-to-one sessions, it helps process emotional pain, trauma, learning, or challenging life events. This approach works with the individuals inner world rather than their conscious, cognitive mind, allowing emotions to be expressed and understood in a supportive way.

But I Can’t Draw!

You don’t need to be an artist to benefit. In each session, you simply draw whatever feels right and then talk about it using stories or metaphors. Everything happens at your own pace, in a safe, non-confrontational space where you feel supported every step of the way.

Why it Helps

This approach supports understanding, builds confidence, and helps manage emotional pain or trauma, improving overall wellbeing and reduce the impact of emotional pain, trauma and changes in cognition.

I can use this therapeutic approach in schools, online and here at my office at Grove House Farm. I have seen the transformation this intervention has given many children, young people and adults.

I can highly recommend Anita. She gave great support to my daughter in helping her to understand and cope with her severe anxiety. She was also very supportive of us as parents and identified underlying issues that have given us a clear direction forward. Very easy to talk to and a great listener.

Parent

Anita has supported many children in our school with their emerging and wide-ranging social, emotional and mental health needs. She is experienced and well respected in her work. Anita is able to draw upon many approaches, such as talking and drawing therapy, lego therapy and laughter yoga. This support has been invaluable to the children and their families. She has really made a difference and is highly recommended as a practitioner.

Headteacher

Being a man, it is hard sometimes to talk about my feelings. I have been told that I internalise my feelings, but Anita changed my life. Her calm voice and understanding turned my life around. I recommend her!

Client

I have used Anita on occasions for my child’s drawing and talking sessions, Anita has always been very professional, kind, and a breath of fresh air. My child has made excellent progress from these sessions. I would 100% recommend Anita and the drawing and talking to anyone who would like their child to have sessions that may not feel talking is the easiest option.
