Invisible Illness

Specialist Support

I offer specialist emotional support for individuals, families, and friends living with Bowel Diseases, including those adjusting to life before and after surgery or stoma formation. My approach is deeply empathetic and personalised, grounded in both professional insight and my own lived experience.

Living with a chronic illness doesn’t just affect your body. Treatment, surgery, and everyday challenges can impact every part of your life — and stress or strong emotions can sometimes trigger flare-ups or worsen symptoms.

You might be experiencing:

  • Emotional exhaustion and feeling drained
  • Disconnection from friends, family, or your usual support networks
  • Anxiety around eating, going out, or social interactions
  • Frustration with physical limitations
  • Challenges with body image
  • Uncertainty about the future

Together, we will focus on both mind and body, recognising the connection between emotional wellbeing and physical health.

Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your child, or a loved one, I am here to help you take the next step. Contact me to discuss your needs, ask questions, or arrange an initial consultation. Every journey begins with a single step, let’s take it together

I can highly recommend Anita. She gave great support to my daughter in helping her to understand and cope with her severe anxiety. She was also very supportive of us as parents and identified underlying issues that have given us a clear direction forward. Very easy to talk to and a great listener.

Parent

Anita has supported many children in our school with their emerging and wide-ranging social, emotional and mental health needs. She is experienced and well respected in her work. Anita is able to draw upon many approaches, such as talking and drawing therapy, lego therapy and laughter yoga. This support has been invaluable to the children and their families. She has really made a difference and is highly recommended as a practitioner.

Headteacher

Being a man, it is hard sometimes to talk about my feelings. I have been told that I internalise my feelings, but Anita changed my life. Her calm voice and understanding turned my life around. I recommend her!

Client

I have used Anita on occasions for my child’s drawing and talking sessions, Anita has always been very professional, kind, and a breath of fresh air. My child has made excellent progress from these sessions. I would 100% recommend Anita and the drawing and talking to anyone who would like their child to have sessions that may not feel talking is the easiest option.
