What is Drawing and Talking?
Drawing and Talking is a gentle, creative therapy for children, young people, adults and older adults. It provides a safe space to explore feelings and experiences that are difficult to put into words. Typically delivered over a 12-week cycle of 30-minute one-to-one sessions, it helps process emotional pain, trauma, learning, or challenging life events. This approach works with the individuals inner world rather than their conscious, cognitive mind, allowing emotions to be expressed and understood in a supportive way.
But I Can’t Draw!
You don’t need to be an artist to benefit. In each session, you simply draw whatever feels right and then talk about it using stories or metaphors. Everything happens at your own pace, in a safe, non-confrontational space where you feel supported every step of the way.
Why it Helps
This approach supports understanding, builds confidence, and helps manage emotional pain or trauma, improving overall wellbeing and reduce the impact of emotional pain, trauma and changes in cognition.
I can use this therapeutic approach in schools, online and here at my office at Grove House Farm. I have seen the transformation this intervention has given many children, young people and adults.
